Alison Ou, O.D.
Dr. Alison Ou is one of our talented and caring optometrists at Big City Optical. She embodies our philosophy of quality of care over quantity and loves being able to help educate patients on their eyes for both preventative reasons and to help them make the most of their lifestyle.
Education & Experience
Dr. Ou attended the University of California, Los Angeles, and completed her Bachelor of Science degree before attending the Illinois College of Optometry, where she earned her Doctor of Optometry. As an optometry student, she received the Presidential Scholarship throughout all four years and graduated Summa Cum Laude with Clinical Honors. She is also a Myopia Management Ambassador for CooperVision.

Get to Know Dr. Ou
Dr. Ou is an artist who continued her drawing after receiving her first pair of contact lenses in middle school. Originally from northern California, Dr. Ou has lived in Taiwan for four years and is fluent in Mandarin. She’s passionate about patient education because she wants patients to live their best quality of life and be able to apply what they learn in the exam room. When she’s not working, you can find Dr. Ou illustrating children’s books, and she is currently working on an interactive ocular anatomy atlas with her professor to be launched digitally to help optometry students learn about all the parts of the eyes. She also loves to crochet plushies, known as amigurumi, and sells patterns on her Etsy page. You can view her art on her Instagram, @oualison.
